Celebrating Birthdays!

When Marc got back from his culinary training and while Grandpa Warren and Berta were still here we finally celebrated mine and Noah's birthday

Yeah! Finally celebrating Noah's first birthday!







Okay you can't tell by the looks of it (since I forgot to take a picture before we cut it) but it was a beautiful cake. It was a Boston cream cake that took me about 3 1/2 hours to make. There were so many steps, including scraping vanilla beans, melting chocolate, making the filling, brewing coffee for the choc. layer and lots of sifting. After all that we ended up throwing the rest of it out. It was good but I didn't love it.
